Mushroom Capsicum curry(South Indian style)

Mushroom Capsicum curry

Mushroom capsicum curry is a simple curry that is flavored with typical south indian spice powder,sambar powder.It is a quick fix tasty dish that goes well with Chapathi/Rice.


Mushroom                  -200 g
bell pepper/capsicum  -1/2 cubed
onion                           -1/2 cup finely chopped
tomato                         -11/2 pureed
chopped ginger           -1/2 tsp
chopped garlic            -1/2 tsp
cumin seeds                -1/2 tsp
sambar powder           -11/2 tsp
chili powder               -1/2 tsp
turmeric powder         -1/4 tsp
oil                                -2 tsp
salt                              -to taste
cilantro                        -to garnish

Preparation Time: 15 min
Cooking Time     :  20 min


  • In a pan heat oil and temper with cumin seeds
  • Once the cumin seeds splutter add chopped ginger and chopped garlic to it and fry until the raw flavor goes off.\

  • Now fry the finely chopped onions until transparent.

  • Add the chopped mushroom,adequate salt,turmeric ,chili powder,sambar powder and fry for 3 minutes.

  • Then follow it by adding pureed tomatoes.

  • When the raw flavor of the tomatoes goes add the cubed bell pepper.

  • Cook until well done and garnish with cilantro

  • Serve as a side with Chapathi/Rice
