Baby Potato masala

Baby Potato masala


Baby potato                 -300 g
onion                            -1 sliced
tomato                          -1 medium finely chopped
ginger garlic paste        -3/4 tsp
salt                                - to taste
oil                                  -1 tbsp
mustard seeds                -1 tsp

For masala:

Whole red chili            -4
curry leaves                  -few
coriander seeds             -1 tbsp
cumin seeds                   -1 tsp
cinnamon                       -1/2 ''
cloves                             -2
star anise                        -1/2
bay leaf                          -1


  • In a pot boil baby potatoes until tender .Drain the water  and peel the skin off.

  • In a pan heat little oil and fry the ingredients given under 'For masala' until well roasted.

  • grind it along with ginger garlic paste and little water.
  • In  kadai heat oil and temper with mustard seeds.
  • fry sliced onions  until light golden.

  • then add the finely chopped tomatoes and cook until mushy.

  • Add the ground paste and cook until oil oozes out.Then put the peeled potatoes.

  • Add  water and cover it with a lid.

  • Cook until oil floats on top .Garnish with cilantro.

  • Serve over Rice / chapathi
