Egg Biryani/muttai biriyani


basmathi rice           -11/4 cup
hard boiled eggs       -5
egg                          -1
coconut milk            -1/2 cup
tomato                     -1/2 cup finely chopped
ginger garlic paste     -1/2 tbsp
chili powder              -11/2 tsp
coriander powder       -11/2 tsp
cumin powder            -1/2 tsp
garam masala             -1/4 tsp
mint leaves                -few
cilantro                      -few
garam masala             -1/4 tsp
onion                          -1 sliced
cinnamon                   -1''
clove                          -3
cardamom                  -2
star anise                    -1
besan /gram flour      -1 tsp
oil                               -11/2 tbsp
salt                             -to taste
cashews                     - l0 whole


  • Soak basmathi rice in water  for 20 minutes.
  • Simultaneously in a pan add oil and fry half of the sliced onions until golden brown.Remove and keep it aside

  • Also roast the cashews until golden.keep it aside.

  • In a mixing bowl beat an egg with salt,turmeric, besan/gram flour along with little of chili powder,coriander powder and cumin powder .Coat the hard boiled eggs with it

  • In a pressure cooker heat oil.fry the coated hard boiled eggs in oil.

  • Once it is fried evenly on all sides .remove and keep it aside.
  • In the same oil temper cinnamon,cloves,cardamom and star anise.

  • Add the remaining sliced onions and fry until golden.

  • Fry ginger garlic paste until the raw flavor goes off.

  • Add the chopped tomatoes,cilantro and mint leaves.

  • Cook until tomato is mushy and add coriander powder,cumin powder, garam masala,salt,chili powder and adequate salt.

  • mix it well and the drained rice to it.Put the fried eggs to it.

  • Pour 11/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of coconut milk to it.

  • Pressure cook for a whistle.Once the pressure goes off open the lid and add the fried onions ,cashews and cilantro to garnish

  • Serve with your choice of raitha.
