nattu kozhi chops/country chicken chops
Ingredients:
nattu kozhi /country chicken - 700 g
small onion/shallots - 350g
curry leaves -few
green chili -1
yogurt -1/2 cup
yogurt -1/2 cup
garlic cloves -8
ginger - 1 inch
ginger - 1 inch
coriander powder -1 tbsp
cumin powder -1/2 tbsp
chilli powder -11/2 tsp
pepper powder -1 tsp
turmeric -1/4 tsp
Method:
- In a blender grind approximately 100 g of shallots ,ginger and garlic cloves into a smooth paste.
- Add this paste to a mixing bowl along with chicken ,coriander powder, chili powder, cumin powder, salt, turmeric, yogurt.Marinade it for at least 3 hours.
- In a pressure cooker heat little oil and add in the marinated chicken .Fry for 2 minutes and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
- Simultaneously in another pan heat oil and temper with curry leaves and green chili.
- Fry the remaining shallots (chopped) until golden brown.
- When the pressure goes off open the cooker lid and add the fried onions to it.
- Again cover with the lid and pressure cook for 2 more whistles.(or until the chicken is well cooked)
- At any stage do not add water. The flavor comes very well when the chicken gets cooked into is own juices.
- Serve with idli/dosa/rice/paratha
