Zucchini curry

Zucchini curry(Indian style)


zucchini             -2
onion                 -1/2 finely chopped
salt                     -to taste
cumin powder     -3/4 tsp
turmeric              -little
yogurt                 -4-5 tbsp
cilantro                - to garnish
oil                        -2 tsp

For tempering:

mustard seeds      -1/4 tsp
cumin seeds         -1/4 tsp
urad dhal              -1/4 tsp
curry leaves          -few
red chilli               -3
green chilli            -3

For grinding:

Shredded coconut       -1 tbsp
khus khus/poppy seeds-1 tsp


  • Chop zucchini into bite sized cubes.
  • Grind the shredded coconut and khus khus /poppy seeds into a fine paste adding little water and keep it aside.
  • Beat yogurt in a mixer for few seconds and keep it aside.
  • In a pan heat oil and temper with ingredients given under for tempering.
  • Add chopped onion to it and fry until transparent.

  • Add cubed zucchini and fry for 2-3 minutes

  • Put salt,turmeric and cumin powder.

  • Mix well and add the ground paste.

  • Cover and cook until the raw flavor of the ground paste goes and zucchini is well cooked.
  • Open the lid and add the beaten yogurt and switch off the stove.

  • Garnish with cilantro.

  • Serve over Rice/chapathi

Serves  3-4
