Drumstick /Murungakkai masala

Murungakkai/Drumstick -4
Onion                              - 1(chopped)
Tomato                            -1(chopped)
Turmeric                         - 1/8 tsp
Corriander powder         -1/4 tsp
Chili powder                  -3/4tsp
salt                                 -to taste

For grinding
Coconut                          -2 tbsp(shredded or powder)
onion                              -1/2
fennel seeds                    -3/4 tsp

For tempering
oil                              - 2tbsp
mustard seeds            -1/4 tsp
fennel seeds              -3/4 tsp
curry leaves              -few


  • Cut murungakkai into small pieces
  • Heat  oil in a pan and allow  mustard seeds to splutter then add  fennel seeds, curry leaves.


  • Add chopped onion  and fry for few minutes

  • add tomato and saute well.

  • Add murungakkai/Drumstick fry for 3 minutes

  • add chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric and salt and mix well.

  • And add right amount water .

  • once its 1/2 cooked  add ground masala and then cook fully.


  • when it get dry switch off the stove.

  • Serve with rice.
