Avarakkai kootu/Broad beans kootu
Ingredients:
Avarakkai -300 gonion -1/2 finely chopped
tomato -1/2 finely chopped
chanadhal -1/4 cup
salt -to taste
chili powder -1 tsp
sambar powder -1/4 tsp
turmeric -pinch
mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
urad dhal -1/4 tsp
cumin seeds -1/4 tsp
curry leaves -few
shredded coconut- 3 tbsp
oil - 2 tsp
Method:
- In a pressure cooker cook chana dhal with 1 cup of water for a whistle.
- Once pressure goes off add the chopped avaraikkai , salt, chili powder, turmeric and a cup of water.
- Pressure cook for one more whistle.
- In a pan heat oil ad temper with mustard seeds, urad dhal, cumin seeds and curry leaves.
- Add onion and fry until transparent.
- Follow it with tomatoes and sambar powder.
- After 2 -3 minutes add the pressure cooked avaraikkai .
- Cook for another 3-5 minutes until well blend and add the shredded coconut..
- Serve as a side with Rice.
