Chakkarai Pongal

Happy Pongal  2 All


Sweet Pongal(chakkarai pongal)


Raw rice           -1 cup
achuvellam       -10 (big size)
cashews            -10
raisins               -10
cardamom         - 3
ghee                  -5 - 6 tbsp


  • in a pan heat 1 tbsp ghee and fry cashews and raisins in it until brown and keep it aside
  • Crush the achu vellam with a hammer finely and keep it aside
  • wash and cook rice in 5 cups of water
  • when the rice is almost done add cardamom powder,crushed achuvellam
  • After the vellam melts add the fried cashews and raisins
  • Stir well adding the remaining ghee slowly and switch off the stove
Serves 4
