Black eye bean curry

Black eye bean curry



Blackeye bean         -1/2 cup
Tomato                    -1
Onion                      -1/2
Tamarind juice        -1/2 cup
chili powder            -1 tsp
coriander powder    -2 tbsp
cumin powder         -1 tsp
turmeric                  -1/4 tsp
green pepper           -1/2
hing                        -1/4 tsp
mustard seeds         -1/4 tsp
curry leaves            -to few
cumin seeds            -1/4 tsp
ginger                     - little
garlic                      -3 cloves
salt                         - to taste
oil                          - 1tbsp


  • In a cooker put Black eye bean and water and  soak  for an a hour After an hour add salt and switch on the stove and cook or 4 whistles.

  • Heat one tablespoon oil in a pressure pan and add mustard seeds,cumin ,crushed garlic ginger and curry leaves. 
  • add the onion and fry till it turns goldenbrown .
  • Now add the tomato and cook for  a minute and add chopped capsicum and then  stir in for another 3 minutes.
  • After that put all spice powders and salt and stir for another 3 minutes
  • Add tamarind juice and cooked beans with water and cover it with a lid.


  • cook  for 10 minutes and  add coriander leaves.
  • Ready to serve.
Serves 2-4
