Mutton dalcha

Mutton Dalcha is a delicious curry in which meat is cooked with lentils and veggies .This is served as a side with any Biriyani  varieties.



Ingredients:

Mutton                            -200 g
baby potato peeled          -3
toor dal/split pigeon peas -1/4 cup
chana dhal/bengal gram-2 tbsp
shallots                           -2-3 finely chopped
Tomato finely chopped -1/2
green chili                     -4
coriander powder          -2 tsp
turmeric powder            -1/4 tsp
garam masala powder   -1/4 tsp
salt                                -to taste
cilantro                          -to garnish

To temper

Mustard seeds                -1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds                  -1/2 tsp
cinnamon                       -1"
cloves                             -2
star anise                        -1/2
bay leaf                          -1
oil                                  -2 tbsp


Preparation time:30 min
Cooking Time    :30 min


Method:

  • Soak toor dhal and chana dhal in water for 30 minutes.

  • In a pressure cooker add the soaked dhal,mutton pieces,chopped shallots,green chili,coriander powder,baby potato,tomato,turmeric powder with adequate water and cook for 5 -6 whistles.


  • In a small pan heat oil and allow mustard seeds to splutter .Temper with the ingredients given to temper.

  • After the pressure goes off open the cooker ,add adequate salt and pour in the tempering .
  • Cook open for another 3 minutes and sprinkle litttle garam masala and cilantro.




  • Serve as a side dish for any variety of Biriyani/Pulav
