Aloo mutton curry/potato mutton curry

Potato is one such starchy vegetable which goes very well with any kind of meat. Aloo mutton curry is a very flavorful yet easy to make dish & goes very well with Rice/Chapathi/paratha/Dosa/poori


Ingredients:

Mutton                             -250 g
potato                              -1  medium
chopped ginger                 -1 tsp
chopped garlic                  -1 tsp
cumin seeds                     -1/2 tsp
onion                               -1/2 finely chopped
salt                                   -to taste
chili powder                       -3/4 tsp
turmeric                            -1/4 tsp
coriander powder               -1 tsp
cumin powder                    -1/4 tsp
coriander cumin powder      -2 tsp
cilantro                              -to garnish
oil                                     -3 tsp

Note:if you do not have coriander cumin powder dry roast 2 tsp of coriander seeds and 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds in a pan and blend it in a mixer when warm into a fine powder.

Preparation time:15 min
Cooking time     :45 min


Method:

  • In a pressure cooker heat oil and temper with cumin seeds ,chopped ginger ,chopped garlic.

  • Once the raw flavor goes off add the finely chopped onions.

  • After it turns transparent add mutton,salt chili powder,turmeric,coriander powder and cumin powder.

  • mix well and when the mutton turns pink add little water and cover it with a lid and pressure cook for 3 -4 whistles.(increase the whistle depending on your mutton)

  • Once the pressure goes off and open then add the peeled and cubed potatoes.


  • Again pressure cook for a whistle(add little more water before closing the cooker if necessary)
  • Once the pressure goes off open and add the coriander cumin powder.
                       
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes and garnish with cilantro.


  • Aloo mutton curry is ready to serve.

Serves  2-3
