soyachunks dahi vada

Soya chunks Dahi vada is an yummy snack made with deep fried soya chunks and soaked in spiced yogurt.



Ingredients:

soya chunks            -1 cup
yogurt                     -2 cups
carrot                      -1
cilantro                   -finely chopped
salt                          -to taste
oil                           -to deep fry


For the batter:

besan/gram flour     -1cup
rice flour                 -1/4 cup
salt                           -to taste
chili powder             -3/4 tsp
baking soda              -pinch

For the tempering:

oil                            -1 tbsp
mustard seeds         -1 tsp
cumin seeds            -1 tsp
chopped ginger       -2 tsp
green chili               -3-4
broken curry leaves-2 sprigs
hing                         -pinch
turmeric                  -1/4 tsp
preparation time:10 min
Cooking Time   :25 min

Method:


  • In a pot heat water with salt.When the water is hot enough switch off the flame and soak soya chunks in it for 10 minutes.


  • Now drain the water and squeeze the soya chunks without water.

  • In a mixing bowl mix the ingredients given for the batter along with water to make dosa batter consistency without any lumps.


  • Heat oil for deep frying.Dip soya chunks into the batter so that it coats well on all sides.Then deep fry in oil until golden.


  • In a serving bowl add yogurt and beat it with a spoon adding necessary water to get to the desired consistency you want.



  • In a small pan heat oil and add the ingredients for tempering.

  • Add the fried soya chunks into the yogurt .Pour the tempering over it.

  • Mix well and garnish with grated carrots and chopped cilantro.

  • Serve as evening snack.
