Butter beans masala
Ingredients
Butter beans - 1 cup
Onion - 1/2 finely chopped
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Uraddal -1/4 tsp
Curry leaves -few
Salt - to taste
chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
Oil - 2 tsp
Turmeric - pinch
For grinding:
Coconut -2 tbsp
Roasted chana dhal/pottukadalai - 1 1/2 tsp
- In a blender grind the ingredients given for grinding into a fine paste adding little water to it.
- Pressure cook butter beans adding water to it for a whistle.
- In a pan heat oil and allow mustard seeds to splutter.
- Temper with urad dhal and curry leaves.
- Add onion and fry until transparent
- Add a pinch of turmeric and chilli powder
- Add the ground masala paste ,salt and turmeric.
- Cook until the raw flavor of masala goes off.
- Now add the pressure cooked butter beans along with the water in it.
- Cook until the masala oozes oil.
- Serve as a side with rice.
