Dates Cake


Seedless dates                        - 500g
Maida/all purpose flour          -11/2 cup
egg                                          -3
butter                                       -160 g (3/4 cup)
sugar                                        -1 cup
chopped cashews                     -1/4 cup
boiling water                            -11/2cup
baking soda                              -11/2 tsp
vanilla essence                          -2 tsp
corn flour                                  -1/2 tsp


  • In a bowl mix maida,1/2 tsp baking soda and cornflour together and sieve it.
  • Grind seedless dates in a mixer into a smooth paste.
  • In a pan boil water and add 1 tsp baking soda and dates pasteto it and cook until it is well done.
  • In  a large mixing bowl beat butter and sugar together until it blends well.
  • Add egg one by one beating using a electric mixer until it incorporates well.
  • Now add the sieved flour slowly beating it simultaneously.

  • Once the flour is incorporated start mixing dates to it until well blend .

  • Now add the chopped cashews and blend well

  • Preheat oven to 350 f
  • Grease the baking pan with butter/oil
  • Pour the cake mixture to it and bake for 35-40 minutes

  • To check if the cake is done insert a tooth pick and check if it comes out clean.
  • Allow it to cool for 15-20 minutes.
  • This batter made 2 batches of  8 inch cake
