Fish curry/meen kuzhambu

Fish curry/meen kuzhambu




Ingredients:

Cat fish                            - 1 kg
(any fish can be used)
Tamarind paste                - 1tbsp
tomato                              -1
mustard seeds                  -1/2 tsp
fenugreek seeds               -1/4 tsp
small onions                    - 200g
curry leaves                     - few
green chillies                   -3
crushed garlic                  - 4 cloves
currychilli powder           - 2 tbsp
salt                                   - to taste
sesame oil                        -8 tbsp

For grinding:

onion                              - 1 cup
tomato                             - 1
ginger                              - little
garlic                               - 1 clove
shredded coconut            - 2 tbsp


Method:

  • In a blender blend the ingredients into a fine paste and keep it aside.


  • In a kadai  add the curry chilli powder and fry it until it turns golden(do not burn it keep stiring)





  • Mix a tamarind paste in a cup of water.
  • Pour it into the kadai.


  • Allow it to boil and add the ground paste and a crushed tomato


  • Cook for 10-15 minutes and add 3 cups of water and allow it to boil and add fish to it.



  • Simultaneously in another pan heat oil and allow mustard seeds to splutter.
  • Add fenugreek seeds,curryleaves,crushed garlic,green chillies.

                               


  • Put the sliced small onions to it.

  • let it turn golden.


  • When the fish is almost done pour this tempering into it




  • and cook until the fish is done


  • Serve with Rice.
