Milagai killi sambar

 
 

Ingredients:

ToorDhal                 -   11/2 cup
tomato                      -   2 large
green chillies            -   5-6
tamarind paste          -  1 tbsp
turmeric                    - 1/4 tsp
 

For tempering:

Oil                            - 2 tsp
mustard seeds          -  1 tsp
urad dhal                  - 1 tsp
cumin seeds             -  1 tsp
hing                         -   1/8 tsp
curry leaves             -   few
onion                      -   1/2 finely chopped
cilantro                   -   finely chopped
salt                          -  to taste
 

Method:

  • In a pressure cooker add washed toordhal,finely chopped tomatoes,green chillies,tamarind paste,turmeric and 21/2 cups of water and pressure cook for one whistle.



  • Now add oil in a pan and temper with mustard seeds,urad dhal,hing,cumin seeds and curry leaves .
  • Add the onion and desired salt and fry for 2 minutes



  • After the pressure goes off open the cooker and add the tempering to it



  • Add little more water for desired consistency,salt and garnish with cilantro


  • Serve with Rice or chapathi
