Chow Chow and Carrot kootu 


  Moong dal       -1/3 cup
 Chow Chow     -1
 Carrots              -2
 Salt                    -to taste

Roast and Grinding :

 Red Chilli            -4 or 6
 Cumin seeds        -1 tsp
 Grated coconut     -1/3 cup
For Tempering:
Oil                          - 2 tsp
Mustard seeds        - 1/8 tsp
Urad dal                 -  1/8 tsp
Curry leaves          -   few
Asafetida               -   pinch


  • Peel and cut the chow chow and carrots into small cubes
  • In a cooker add moong dal with little water and cook for 5-10 min .

  • Add cut vegetables with right amount of salt and  pressure cook  upto 2 whistle

  • once pressure goes off open and add  the ground paste.

  • mix well and  cook  for another 3- 5 min
  • In a pan heat oil and temper with mustard seeds,urad dhal,asafoetida and curry leaves.
  • Add the tempering into the cooker
  • Serve with Rice
