Mango Rice

Ingredients:

Mango (unriped)      - 1 medium shredded  
Rice                        - 1 cup
Red chillies              - 3
Green chillies sliced - 3
mustard seeds         - 1 tsp
urad dhal                - 1 tbsp
chana dhal              - 1 tbsp
peanuts                   - 1 tbsp
turmeric                  - 1/8 tsp
salt                          - to taste
curryleaves              - few
cilantro                    - for garnishing
oil                           - 8 tbsp
hing                         - 1 pinch

Method:

  • Cook the rice in a pressure cooker with 2 cups of water and needed salt.
  • Heat oil in a kadai(pan) add mustard seeds to it .
  • After it splutters add red chillies , green chillies, turmeric and hing.
  • add urad dhal ,chana dhal, peanuts, curryleaves one after the other
  • Now add the shredded mango to it and salt .
  • cook until the raw flavour of the mango goes off
  • Now you can add the cooked rice and mix them well.
  • garnish with chopped cilantro
  • goes well with plantain chips
Serves  2-3
