Dal makhani (karuppu uzhundu kuzhambu)


Ingredients:

Black urad dhal - 1 cup
ginger garlic paste - 1tsp
tomatoes - 4 pureed
whole garam - 1 cinnamon 1 cardamom 1 cloves
coriander powder - 2tbsp
cumin powder - 1tbsp
butter - 1tbsp
kasoori methi - 1 tbsp crushed
salt - to taste
chilli powder - 1 tsp
oil - 1 tbsp
fresh cream - 2tbsp
cilantro - to garnish

Method:

  • Pressure cookblack urad dhal in 4 cups of water for 3 whistles
  • In a kadai heat oil add whole garam and ginger garlic paste
  • tafter the raw smell goes off pour in the tomato puree
  • add spice powders and salt
  • allow it to cook for 5 minutes
  • now add butter and crushed kasoori methi
  • add the water in the pressure cooked dhal
  • after 5 minutes add the cooked black urad dhal too
  • cook on low flme closing the lid for 15 -20 minutes stirring in between
  • add fresh cream
  • garnish with cilantro
  • serve witn naan or chapathi
