Cauliflower gravy

Cauliflower gravy is an easy to make recipe that tastes well too.
This simple gravy is so versatile to be served as an accompaniment for any Rice/Chapthi/Dosa/Naan/paratha  .


cauliflower                     -1 medium
shallots                           -7-10                 
ginger                              -1 clove size 
garlic                               -1 clove
coriander powder             - 2 tsp
chilli powder                   - 11/2 tsp
chopped coconut             -1/4 cup heaped
tomato                             -1 pureed  
oil                                    - 1 tbsp
salt                                   - to taste
cilantro finely chopped   - to garnish

Preparation time:10 min
Cooking time     :20 min


  • Wash and cut cauliflower florets  into medium size and blanch it in boiling water .Then drain off the water.
  • Grind shallots ,ginger garlic,salt,coriander powder,chili powder,shredded coconut into a smooth paste.
  • Heat oil and add the ground paste to it.

  • Cook  as long as the paste is well cooked and oil oozes out.
  • Once oil oozes out add the pureed tomato.
  • Add desired salt and after a minute add the cauliflower florets with desired water (approx 11/2 -2cups)
  • cover the lid and cook for 10-12minutes in a medium flame or until florets or well cooked.
  • Garnish with cilantro
  • Serve with rice /chapathi/Dosa
